This is the dramatic moment a swimmer was airlifted by the coastguard who spotted her bright pink hat.

The woman was swept out to sea at Little Fistral beach, near Newquay in Cornwall, sparking a daring rescue mission yesterday afternoon.

Luckily, she was wearing a pink hat and holding a pink float which was noticed by someone on the shore who called 999.

Standby coastguard teams raced to the woman along with RNLI lifeboats and a helicopter from Newquay.

The rescue was caught on camera by the coastguard who filmed the woman being pulled out of the water and helped into the helicopter.
